All luggage is transported between hotels in the support vehicle. You need only carry snacks, clothing and personal items for the day’s activities.

How should I train for the tour?

Please see the “levels table” by click on “find your level”, along with our detailed tour itineraries, both provides a good idea of how much and what kind of riding to expect on tour. In general, we recommend you ride as frequently as possible prior to your tour to get comfortable on the saddle, or take part in another endurance sport.

How should I tip the guides?

Gratuities for guides are much appreciated to thank them for exceptional service, support, and expertise. The industry standard is for each individual guest to tip 10 of their trip price at the end of the tour. Tips in local currency or US dollars are always preferred. We recommend that you plan ahead by bringing extra cash or visiting the ATM at the beginning of your trip, since ATMs are not always available or may limit the amount of withdrawal.

Are transfers provided at the start and end of the tour?

Cycling-Journeys provides transfers to and from the airport at the beginning and ending the tour, within reason and in accordance with the pick-up and drop-off recommendations. Usually protocol staff (driver) or tour leader will wait for you or your group at airports.

Can I bring my own pedals and/or bike seat?

If you’re planning to clip in, you’ll need to bring your own cycling shoes and pedals to be installed by our guides at the beginning of the tour. We strongly recommend that riders who plan to clip in have prior experience riding this way before their tour.

If you prefer to use your own saddle, you are welcome to bring it. Our guides will install it for you at the beginning of the tour.
